Hi Reader!
Y'all, I think spring is SPRINGING! I’ve been keeping a close eye on the trees in my neighborhood, waiting for that magical moment when they finally burst into bloom—and I think today or tomorrow might be the day. The pink magnolias have already put on their show, and I’ve spotted a few brave daffodils, so I know it’s close.
Have you ever noticed how spring feels like pure magic when the trees finally bud? One day they’re bare, and the next they’re suddenly alive. Ideas can be like that too.
Did I mention I’m thinking about starting a podcast? It’s not exactly business-focused… more of a creative outlet. Something to feed that deep yearning for the kind of conversations we used to have—you know, the ones that stretch late into the night, wandering through all the soul-searching stuff.
I actually woke up in the middle of the night with the whole concept fully bloomed in my head. I spent a few days working through the details, but since then, I’ve been side-eyeing it—equal parts excited and intimidated. The idea feels big. But it also feels right.
Anyway! While I figure out whether I’m starting a podcast or just dreaming out loud, here’s this month’s batch of Reel Ideas to help make your content creation process a little easier. Have you tried any of these yet? Is this format working for you? I’d really love to hear what’s been helpful—or not. Hit reply and let me know!
CONCEPT 1: I want to, but…
DESCRIPTION: What is something that your ideal customer wants to do or accomplish? And what are some products, services, or resources that will help them get there? Write the first statement on screen with simple B-Roll. Then show screenshots or video footage of the solutions that you offer, know of, or have used that can help them get what they want. (I’ve provided examples that fall into this pattern, but don’t necessarily use the exact text on screen that I recommend.)
CONCEPT 2: Here’s what people get wrong about [NICHE TOPIC]...
DESCRIPTION: Film yourself talking directly to the camera. Start with the hook “Here’s what people get wrong about XX” and fill in the blank. It can be anything from myths in your field, how to store/use your product, a better way of doing something, etc. Then explain what is preventing people from achieving their desired result and how you/your services/your products could be used to help. This works well when it’s educational content that viewers can put into practice immediately.
DESCRIPTION: Share your response or commentary about recent developments in your niche. Or recap some interesting news in your industry. Film yourself talking about the issues/news/updates to position yourself as a thought leader. Don’t forget to add closed captions and summarize the content of your video in your written caption.
DESCRIPTION: What is a common problem that your customers face, and what are some reasons that could be contributing to that problem? Analyze the issue in a voiceover while using b-roll or footage from your camera roll. Explain how you or your products could help overcome those issues in the caption!
Hi Reader! I went outside without a coat on yesterday! In Chicago, this is what’s known as the “spring of deception!” I know it’s not going to last and we’ll be back to 15 degree days before the weather really turns, but it is SO NICE while it lasts!!! I hope you had a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine too! Today, I’m so excited to give you access to a Quarterly Customer Appreciation Checklist that we created based on the recommendations we’ve shared so far this month. It’s an easy...
Hi Reader! Valentine’s Day is practically here, and if you’re looking for a way to “show the love” to your customers and clients, today’s issue has a fabulous (and easy to implement!) idea! Of course, this isn’t just for Valentine’s. Showing appreciation for those who support you is an ongoing effort for small business owners (or should be!). So if it’s too stressful to think about doing this in time for Vday, then mark your calendar for another time/season/holiday that works better for you....
Hi Reader! Brrrrr. How are you doing with these arctic temps?! I secretly love winter days like this where you are basically forced to stay inside and take a break from all the usual activities. At its core that is the purpose of winter, isn’t it? To rest, turn inward, and prepare for the season of growth that inevitably follows. What’s true for ourselves is also true for our business! This is the time to reflect on the big questions related to your business and to start prepping and...
