Hi Reader! I did it! I turned in my last big project for the year! Woohoo! Now I just have my monthly clients to tend to and some end of year bookeeping, but the bulk of my work is done. I feel a profound sense of relief and am looking forward to a few weeks of relative downtime. How are you feeling right now? Most business owners I talk to are either super busy with their last big holiday push or have downshifted into a slower pace. No matter where you are, I have included some “reminders” below! Thank you to everyone who has filled out my Newsletter Survey. I have big things planned for 2024, and your input will really help me ensure that I’m creating content that is useful to business owners like you! There’s still time to fill it out here. Wishing you beautiful, peaceful moments so that you can fully experience the magic of the season! Well, we’re in the thick of it! Knee deep in the holiday season, it’s so easy to lose track of time and any sense of balance in life. Depending on what kind of business you have, you’re likely to be deep in the holiday weeds, or in coast mode until the end of the year. Where are you right now? If you’re in the weeds…Take a pause, breathe, and remember to savor the moments of the holiday season. The big push is almost over! Even though this may be your busiest time of year, don’t forget to take some time for yourself and your family. You don’t want to let the whole season pass by with no memories to show for it! Go to a holiday market or see the lights. Go shopping for gifts and let someone else work for you. Buy yourself something nice. Make a date with your bestie to get some hot chocolate. Or take some time alone for some much needed self care (I wrote a whole blog on this - check it out here for great self-care ideas!). Balance in life is important - don’t forget that as you navigate the rest of the holiday season. If you’re in coast mode…Great job! It’s hard as a small business owner to take a step back during any season and just allow yourself to relax. You’ve earned it, so don’t feel guilty. But there are still things you can do to make sure your business doesn’t fall completely by the wayside while you take your much needed break! This is where social media can come in handy. If you’re ahead of the game, you scheduled all this already and can continue coasting. But if you didn’t, don’t forget to post! Use this time to connect with your audience on a more personal level. Post some fun things you’re doing to enjoy the holiday season, but also post something about your business that’s relevant to your niche. If you neglect your audience for too long, it can be harder to recapture their attention in the New Year. Need ideas of what to post? Here are some great guidelines for holiday content. Wherever you are this holiday season, I hope that you find time to refresh, relax, and rejuvenate so you’re ready to move into the next year strong. As small business owners, balance is one of the hardest things for us to achieve. Find the balance that’s right for you, and have a happy and healthy holiday! Advice to small business owners during the holiday season...

Hi Reader! I went outside without a coat on yesterday! In Chicago, this is what’s known as the “spring of deception!” I know it’s not going to last and we’ll be back to 15 degree days before the weather really turns, but it is SO NICE while it lasts!!! I hope you had a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine too! Today, I’m so excited to give you access to a Quarterly Customer Appreciation Checklist that we created based on the recommendations we’ve shared so far this month. It’s an easy...
Hi Reader! Valentine’s Day is practically here, and if you’re looking for a way to “show the love” to your customers and clients, today’s issue has a fabulous (and easy to implement!) idea! Of course, this isn’t just for Valentine’s. Showing appreciation for those who support you is an ongoing effort for small business owners (or should be!). So if it’s too stressful to think about doing this in time for Vday, then mark your calendar for another time/season/holiday that works better for you....
Hi Reader! Brrrrr. How are you doing with these arctic temps?! I secretly love winter days like this where you are basically forced to stay inside and take a break from all the usual activities. At its core that is the purpose of winter, isn’t it? To rest, turn inward, and prepare for the season of growth that inevitably follows. What’s true for ourselves is also true for our business! This is the time to reflect on the big questions related to your business and to start prepping and...
